The Washington, D.C., Chapters of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity,
Inc., are pleased to announce our Annual Talent Hunt Competition
to recognize and provide a forum for exceptionally talented high
school students. The Talent Hunt Competition has been one of our
fraternity’s national mandated programs since 1946.
The Competition will take place at the Andrew Rankin Memorial
Chapel on the campus of Howard University, Saturday, March 8,
2008, at 3:00 PM.
Auditions for applicants will be held Saturday, February 2,
2008, at 3:00 PM, at the Andrew Rankin Memorial Chapel. NOTE:
You must audition to be eligible for participation in the
Competition.
Competition Categories
MUSIC - Vocal
Classical, Semi-Classical, Gospel, R&B, Hip-Hop, and Jazz
MUSIC - Instrumental
Classical, Semi-Classical, Gospel, and Jazz
INTERPRETIVE MOVEMENT TO MUSIC
Ballet, Modern Dance, and Tap
SPEECH
Poetry, Dramatic Readings, Orations, and Monologues
To be eligible, applicants must be high school students enrolled
in D.C. charter, public, private or parochial schools.
Participants must provide any necessary accompaniment. Duets and
groups are not eligible. All performances are limited to five
(5) minutes. Time limitation will be enforced. All performances
must be memorized and the use of microphones is not permitted
during performance.
Applications must be “received” no later than January 29, 2008

The Talent Hunt Committee is determined to be an integral
component in the Washington, DC community. We have implemented a
tracking system of our participants; advertise participants’
events; encourage graduates to provide guidance and assistance
to current participants; and provide a workshop for
participants’ assistance to perfect their performances. We
maintain our Committee website and accept opportunities to
assist the DC schools and the Social Action Committee.

year, not only for the Talent Hunt Committee, but for the Alpha
Omega Chapter as well. With 2008 being a Conclave year, the
Talent Hunt Committee is excited about the opportunity to
display DC’s talented youth in the city of Birmingham, Alabama.
